Ciudad de México.- El presidente ejecutivo de Twitter, Evan Williams, informó que esa red social cuenta ya con más de 145 millones de usuarios registrados, y detalló que el número de sus usuarios móviles ha crecido un 62% desde mediados de abril.

“El 46% de los usuarios activos usan sus celulares para twittear y leer tweets”, comentó Evan Williams en el blog oficial de Twitter.

Admitió que Twitter era difícil de usar vía celular, por lo que adquirieron Tweetie y lo convirtieron en Twitter para iPhone, con una nueva experiencia de registro.

Además, explicó que tras entender la necesidad de tener un cliente en cada una de las principales plataformas móviles, se lanzó Twitter para BlackBerry -desarrollado por RIM- y Twitter para Android, que presentó una nueva versión esta semana.

Gracias a estos cambios el 16% de los nuevos usuarios se están registrando a través de Twitter en sus celulares.

Williams aseguró que Twitter para iPhone y Twitter para BlackBerry son dos de las aplicaciones más populares de esa red social.

“Como demuestra los datos, sabemos que los clientes de teléfonos inteligentes son importantes, pero hay aún más gente que utiliza el sitio web móvil de Twitter y/o SMS”, apuntó.
