Ciudad de México.- Expertos de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) advirtieron que si bien la suplantación de identidad no es algo nuevo, las redes sociales la facilitan al carecer de un marco jurídico, aunque reconocieron que sería un error sobrerregularlas.
El catedrático de robótica de la Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Ernesto Riestra, indicó que este fenómeno de hacerse pasar por otro ha existido siempre, pero “con el Twitter se facilita”.
Señaló que muchos de los mensajes que se transmiten por esa vía, al final resultan ser rumores disfrazados de noticia y la prensa ha dado muchos pasos en falso por esta circunstancia y luego ha tenido que retractarse.
Al respecto, Miguel Carbonell, del Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas, explicó que al carecer de un marco jurídico definido, las redes sociales permiten la participación anónima o que los usuarios proporcionen datos falsos para adoptar una personalidad que no les corresponde.
Consideró, no obstante, que sería un error poner limitaciones y filtros, salvo cuando se tratara de un mal uso que derive en ilícitos de carácter penal.
“De otra manera, sobrerregular sólo nos conduciría a perder la pluralidad que hemos ganado, pues antes la libertad de expresión era exclusiva de los medios, hoy es de los ciudadanos”, agregó.
El investigador, quien se confesó “un twittero muy activo”, señaló que este fenómeno no es de sorprender, y admitió que “de hecho, en Twitter alguien se hace pasar por mí”.
Refirió que basta teclear en el buscador del sitio el nombre de Steve Jobs, el presidente de la compañía Apple, o de Bill Gates, el dueño de Microsoft, para ver la cantidad de gente que los imita, emula y hasta parece tener acceso a su agenda y vida íntima.
Sin embargo esto no implica sanción alguna, pues se trata de algo permitido, siempre y cuando quede claro que se trata de una broma, señaló.
Expuso que los lineamientos son muy claros al respecto, como se estipula en las políticas de uso que establece Twitter, que señala que sólo se permite la usurpación de identidad paródica y no aquella que intente engañar o confundir a los demás.
También es clara la advertencia: “a quienes hagan ésto, se les suspenderán sus cuentas de forma permanente”, refirió el investigador de la máxima casa de estudios.
Expresó que algo de eso le ocurre a él, quien en la red es mejor conocido como @miguelcarbonell, “pues el individuo que se hace pasar por mí hace cosas irónicas a cuenta de lo que escribo”, dijo.
Aclaró que a estas personas se les llama “trolls”, es decir alguien que provoca y busca crear controversia, pero en realidad no es un usurpador de identidad, pero quienes sí son afectados son personajes públicos, como artistas o políticos.
Miguel Carbonell destacó que el gran reto de las comunidades virtuales es ganar credibilidad, pues la cantidad de información que se genera es impresionante, así como la velocidad a la que corre y el número de personas a las que llega.
“Tan sólo yo tengo casi 17 mil seguidores. Eso es más del doble del tiraje de la mayoría de las revistas más importantes del país”, finalizó.
