Según el sitio web, las personas que constantemente están subiendo fotos de ellos en bares y comentando en los muros de todo el mundo y haciendo actualizaciones regulares a su estatus con comentarios “inteligentes” y, en fin, simplemente tienen un problema de autoestima.

Un nuevo estudio, conducido por la psicóloga de la Universidad de York Soraya Mehdizadeh analizó las páginas de Facebook de 50 hombres y 50 mujeres estudiantes después de que éstos respondieran un cuestionario sobre sus datos demográficos, su actividad en Facebook, su autoestima y su narcisismo. Mehdizadeh observó la sección de información personal, la foto de perfil, las primeras 20 fotos etiquetadas, las notas y los estatus, y los calificó basándose en qué tanto se auto publicita y se muestra a cada usuario.

Mehdizadeh encontró que los usuarios de Facebook que son altamente narcisistas con poco autoestima tienden a pasar más tiempo en Facebook y se muestran como con alta autoestima y poco narcisismo, sin importar el género.

En otras palabras, tus amigos cool en Facebook que se la pasan llenando de basura tu página de noticias con constante información sobre ellos y mostrando qué tan geniales son, puede que no sean tan chéveres después de todo.
